island fever

shorts: vintage mesh high-waist emerald green shorts top: 80′s silk tropical crop top jewelry: 80′s gold curb chain necklace, 70′s yellow + white beads, vintage yellow enamel cuff, vintage green winged earrings bag: 80′s white leather over the shoulder bag {all via grey dog} wedges: Bamboo black strappy wedges

Obsessed with this color combo, a little mix of unexpected hues that work surprisingly well together. You would think red and green, is only reserved for Christmas…but why not pair it in something tropical? These vintage shorts have a sort of mesh overlay fabric that is totally perfect for the sportswear trend this season.  Mix in some assorted necklaces for an eclectic feel, and I’m feeling ready to go island hopping!

Some more shots from my lookbook for grey dog…sometimes all it takes is a simple silhouette with some sweet details to really make a statement. The structure of this white dress is phenomenal, it’s simple and to the point–definitely how I like most things.  This is my last full week of class (FOREVER) and I’m way too busy to even get sentimental just yet. Packing, moving back home, finals, graduation, vacation, and then New York. Trying to catch my breath, but I’m enjoying every chaotic/busy moment!

paisley park

bodysuit: american apparel plunge back onzie pants: 80′s paisley high-waisted pants via grey dog head wrap: 60′s silk scarf head wrap clutch: vintage woven bow clutch sunglasses: vintage sunglasses {all items via grey dog } heels: Nine West Aroundtown Mary Jane Platforms {here} lips: opaque lipstick in ”Retrofuturist” c/o Lime Crime

I could seriously wear this look everyday: high-waist print trousers + body suit + platforms. Everyone needs a fun pair of printed pants in their wardrobe, the funkier the better…in my opinion. I definitely felt a little granny-chic in this entire outfit, in the best way of course! I mixed in some gold accents to accentuate the slight metallic sheen from these pants, turned a vintage scarf into a head wrap and voilà –a casual and fun little outfit.

Hope you are having a beautiful day!

Another trend I’m loving this season, which has carried over from last year: loud tropical prints that really pack a punch. Whether you’re vacationing at a resort in Maui or having your own getaway in your backyard, tropical motifs like these are sure to make you feel like you’re on your own private island sipping Mai Tais. Don’t be afraid to trade in your soft romantic florals for prints in bright colors. To avoid looking like a tourist, play around with mixing in some contrasting patterns like stripes and woven accessories (floppy sun hats, necklaces, bags, espadrilles).  Hurry up summer!

lady in red

Dress: 80′s red bondage mini Bag: 70′s lion-head woven bag Necklace: vintage chunky gold collar necklace Earrings: 70′s tropical square earrings  {all available at grey dog, a vintage boutique}

Red makes me feel powerful, like a force to be reckoned with. These are some photos from the grey dog {vintage boutique i work at} lookbook that I styled/modeled in. I’m currently in the process of packing+moving+finishing school+graduating, which for those of you who don’t know….right after graduation I’m moving to New York, fulfilling a goal I had from my sophomore year of college. I’ll be interning at Seventeen, which still feels like a dream.  It’s so surreal how things have worked out but I’m incredibly excited about this next chapter in my life. Have a great weekend!
