I was pretty excited about the snow that we got this weekend, despite how incredibly cold it’s been. Snow makes me feel giddy like a kid and all I want to do is throw my own “snow day”, which is exactly what I did! I made a big breakfast and headed out to do some shopping and exploring. One of my favorite things about this weather is watching to see how creative people are when it comes to layering. For me this typically means throwing on a tee, then a sweater, adding a lighter jacket that will fit under my heavy coats that way I can adjust the layers as needed—it’s all about planning the right amount to get you through the day.

This vintage flannel skirt is a staple of mine that I like to pull out once the temperatures start dropping. There’s nothing like a little flannel to make you feel like a little rebellious school girl.

Anytime I can throw on a tee shirt with Clint Eastwood on it, you know it’s going to be a good day. I stole this one right out of my fiancé’s closet and I’m reluctant to give it back. Pairing it with a pleated skirt is my idea of an easy and on the go look. I threw in these boots for an added quirkiness that I love. They’re like tuxedos for my feet, because at times they want to formal but they’re also ready to party at a moments notice!
When it comes to floral prints, you can keep the sweet and dainty ones. I like dark floral patterns that I can add a little edge too– with a little motorcycle jacket and leather booties, add a pink pout and I’m good to go!

My trip back home is quickly coming to a wrap, and it went by way too fast. But every minute spent with friends and my sweet family has been such a recharge that was much needed. I’ve been “rollin’ with my homies”, meaning that I’ve been longboarding with my fiancé and little brothers these past two weeks. Not that I’m an expert, but I’m pretty impressed that my accident prone self has been able to ride it. And yes, girls can wear skirts and longboard!
